A Passionate Game

I have been playing flag football at Liberty for four years now. I have always been part of a really talented team. Every year we would make it to the final four or championship, but the big game would always elude us. We could never just finish the season well, and when losing the championship year after year (especially in the two OT game) you couldn’t help but to feel like none of the season really mattered. This year the pieces were finally put in place and we were able to win the championship game 19-18. Sudden strong emotions swept over me through the final realization of a four year dream. Thinking about the game later I realized that my vigor for God had not matched that I had for that game. Sometimes in life we need to just pause and realize what we are living for. What are our true passions, and will they even matter? I still love football and I always will, but when I love it into idolism….. then I will once again need a self check…. we all need them once in a while.
