Genesis 1.6-23 – “Good”

My sermon today was a challenge for us to not be so judgmental and to realize that while we should strive for perfection in our own lives (Matthew 5.48), we should not expect it from others.  God looked out over His creation and saw that it was “good.”  How are we doing seeing the “good” in others?  Your thoughts?

I think we could do better in seeing the good in others i know i need to.. I also feel that it’s Gods opinion that counts no one elses. It isn’t about us there was and is nothing that we can do to make ourselves good enough to be accepted by God and there is nothing we can do to make God love us more or less if we are Christians.. If we could obey perfectly then God had no reason to die on the cross for us. None of us are really good persay scripture tells us that there are no good people we all sin.. I also believe that with in scripture it teaches us universal human guilt and culpability. We should get up and go on and not look at sin as it doesn’t matter.I think we need to live our lives as though it is Christ living through us and not Him helping us to do something. Living Life isn’t just about doing good things and bad things its about living our lives in a way that brings glory in the name of the Lord… I also think that as Christians we should participate in missions and evangelism.. now some of the Questions Bryon asked: What is Gos’s standard in good? I think God’s standard in good is that we become more like Jesus. God I believe often allows trials in order to reveal our character flaws to us with this he teaches us and refines our character into the likeness of Jesus. I also believe God does not punish us but diciplines us because punishment tears us down and dicipline builds us up.
why isn’t good good enough? I believe that most people try to be great or even perfect and there aren’t any perfect people here on this earth. i myself am nowhere near perfect or great i know that i am good but i may not be good to someone elses standard but that is not how anyone should look at anyone i know that within my own standards i am good but yet bad and in Gods standard i am good and that is all that matters and we should never be judgemental towards anyone else and i need to also work on this and this is one of my goals is to not judge others for what they look like, have or whatever else…
How do we not Judge someone? this question is tough though i think that if we are true christians and are truthful to ourselves and most of all to God and go out and help others to come to know christ and it should not matter what they look like what they have and who they are everyone is entitled to hear about Jesus and the good news…. i think that if we judge someone then we are passing up the opportunity to bring someone the word of God. And when God puts someone in front of us and we overlook them because we are judging them then we are not really good christians or doing what God really put us on this earth to do…
Was Gods creation perfect? I believe that at one time it was until we chose to sin. By ourselves we cannot be righteous or good. Gods love for us is so immense that he wants us to be able to determine the path our life will take even though that may take us from him. For Gods perfect creation needed freedom because with freedom that true sacrfice and love can flourish. With the help of the spirit we will become beautiful and perfect creations…

Thinking about our need to not be judgmental…Is our struggle to rid ourselves of these thoughts, or simply to keep our inherent, natural human thoughts from controlling our mind, heart, words, and actions? Just a thought!
